came to cinemas in Germany in October 2015
In October 2015, the movie “8 Seconds” / ”8 Sekunden – Ein Augenblick Unendlichkeit”,
based on Esra’s life story, was released in cinemas in Germany. Distributed by Warner Bros.

A film inspired by real events...
Esra was approached by award-winning Turkish filmmakers Ömer Faruk Sorak and Ipek Sorak (“G.O.R.A”, “Vizontele”). They had heard about her story and were enthusiastic to make a movie based on her life, in which she would star as herself. Soon after, Esra started to write the script for “8 Seconds”, together with co-writer Nuran Evren Şit (“Love loves Coincidence”).
The movie, a German-Turkish coproduction of BKM, Barefoot Films and Warner Bros., was shot in Berlin, Istanbul and other locations in Turkey.
“8 Seconds” was released to cinemas in Turkey, Germany, and Austria in 2015.
The movie is available on Amazon and iTunes.
ESRA leads two parallel lives. In her worldly life as a Turkish Berliner in a re-united city, the vivacious and spirited Esra adores her family but feels caged in her relationships and languishes in her job.
She clashes with the rules imposed on her and continually feels that something is missing, something is wrong, and there must be something more.
In her dream life she yearns to discover the identity of the familiar man who visits her dreams and makes her feel whole. Yet the more she attempts to comprehend her dreams, the more deeply they influence her life. While in waking life she struggles in vain, in her dream life she evolves in secret. But what if waking and dreaming were never separate and the real secret is shared by all?
